Penticton is located in the Okanagan, British Columbia. It is about two hundred and forty kilometres from Vancouver. It's 50û north and 120û west on a map. It seems like it takes for ever to get there from Vancouver. It takes about four an a half hours to get there from Vancouver. It is at the south end of Okanagan Lake.
There is lots of trees and bushes in Penticton. The most popular trees are Ponderosa pine, willows, Alpine Fir, Douglas Fir, and Black Cottonwood. They have lots of trees. The trees you see the most are willows. They have a number of weird trees and bushes. They even have cactuses.
Penticton gets really cold in the winter. They get lots of snow and hail. In the summer it gets very hot. When ever you do something like go for a walk, you get very thirsty, hot, and tired. During fall it starts to get cold and windy. Sometimes it even rains.
Penticton is nestled between two large lakes. The larger lake to the north is called Okanagan Lake and the smaller lake to the south is Skaha Lake. Penticton is surrounded by rolling hills and mountains. There is also a river that runs from Okanagan Lake to Skaha Lake.
Penticton's two main industries are tourisim and fruit growing. The rolling hills surrounding Penticton are covered with orchards and estate wineries. There is a large ski hill in the area that employs a great number of people as well dozens of motels, hotels, and restaurants lining the main streets of Penticton. Other industries such as logging, mining, and light manufacturing also employ large amounts of people.
